Room Makeover

Just ignore the Hobby Lobby bags that I failed to pick up before I took the picture. The couch was a free hand-me-down that he hopes to replace soon with a brown leather one.

My brother Thomas bought his first house a few months ago. When he heard that I was coming out to visit, he asked if I would help him decorate. A little background on Thomas-he's a country kind of guy. He's always loved horses and he in fact owns and rides them often. I loved finding decor items to fit his interests and tastes. He gave me a budget and I got to do the rest!

I decided that I would take it one room at a time. I conquered the living room this time around and next visit I will do his kitchen. His walls were all white before and his two end tables were old looking and in need of a face lift. I chose the paint color for the walls, okay-ed it with Thomas, and went to town. I also painted his end tables black. I found an old dresser in my parent's basement that was red and yellow, repainted it black, and put new handles on it (well my dad did that part). I painted his shelf white for some contrast. All the decor items are from Hobby Lobby. There were a few more things I wanted to do with it (like find fun things to put on his end tables, some fun pictures for a few empty wall spaces, and something in the empty corner on the other side of the couch, but that will have to wait until his budget will allow. I should have taken a before picture because it looks like a totally different room now! I had so much fun and can't wait to undertake a new project for him next time I'm in Utah.

Wow Christine! Looks awesome! I love the paint color, everything looks so nice. Good job! Thomas is lucky to have such a creative sister.
