To My Precious Blake on Your Sixth Birthday

My sweet Blake.  What a joy you are.  I can't believe you are six!  I wish I could stop time.  You are still just an easy-going, fun-loving boy, getting more handsome every day, if that's possible.  You love school and your friends there.  Your best friend right now from class is Vaden and you enjoy trading Pokemon cards with him and others during recess.

You are learning to read and doing well with that.  You enjoy doing homework and are always the first one to tell me that you have it and when it's due.  And then you never complain when I ask you to sit down and work on it.  I hope that continues.

You are obsessed with all things Doctor Who, a TV show that your dad got you into.  In fact, we even had a Doctor Who birthday party with your friends yesterday and you received all Doctor Who themed presents from mom and dad today.

You're still an early riser...always the first child up at 6 am, and then you wake your sisters up to start playing.  You have your own room right now, but choose to sleep in your sister's room because you just love being with them all the time.  You all play so well together, particularly you and Natalie.  You enjoy playing video games with each other, but, especially since we moved to our new house with more space indoor and out, you like do a lot more imaginative play.  I really love listening in on those cute conversations.

You love to tease Jane, but mostly in a playful way.

It's very uncommon for you to be in a bad mood.  You are such a happy boy and are good about rolling with things.

Your favorite food is still pizza, although you are becoming much more adventurous with eating and now enjoy certain types of fish.  You LOVE steak and meatballs too.  You are my little cookie monster and are always begging me to make homemade chocolate chip cookies or snickerdoodles.  You even asked to bring chocolate chip cookies to your class today for your birthday treat instead of the traditional cupcakes.

Whenever you are asked to do the talent at family home evening, you often do a cute and silly dance called the Futterwacken by the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland and put on the Mad Hatter hat that you have.

You are never shy when company comes.  You like to entertain a crowd and will tell them stories or keep coming out in different dress ups.  Funny enough, your school teacher says you are pretty quiet in class.  Although, she says you have a great set of morals.  For example, some girls in the class were making a mess at the sink when your teacher had her back turned and you knew your teacher had asked everyone not to do that, so you ran and told your her, although in a kind way because you didn't want to be a tattle tale about it.  Your teacher says she always knows when you really have an opinion about something because you are never afraid to speak up about it.  Like when the principal visited the class and all the kids were pretty afraid and timid, but you were the first to raise your hand and offer an opinion on a matter of "What would you do in this situation?"

You're a smart boy, crank out your homework in no time at all and most of the time receive 100% on your tests at school.

You are very into the details and often notice things that I never would have, especially when it's regarding a favorite movie character or game.

You're very tender with your baby brother and have a special connection already with him.

Your dad and I love you so much and count ourselves so blessed to be your parents.  We know you will do great things and we love watching you grow and learn.
