We took a quick trip to White Sands for the end of Natalie's spring break. We stayed at a motel the night before and then spent the morning at the dunes beginning at 8 am when it opened. We were so glad we got there early because it warmed up fast! This would definitely not be the place to go in the summer.
It was so fun! The dunes look like snow, but the sand feels amazing! We took our shoes off and had a great time sledding down the hills, jumping, racing up and down, and digging our toes in the wonderful stuff.
Jane was fascinated by all the dune bugs (black beetles) that were everywhere. Poor things.
And...she got it. I turned around and just saw her holding a big, black thing and freaked out. She wasn't phased by the nasty creepy crawly thing in her hand.
Jane experiencing the white sand.
Natalie snowboarding down.
After a morning at the dunes, we ate lunch and then went to the Space Museum nearby. It wasn't the most thrilling thing we've ever done, but it was still worth seeing.
