I ran the Albuquerque 5k this year. I trained really hard, but woke up feeling sluggish and off with stomach issues. I attribute it to our vacation the day before and eating way too much junk food that my body wasn't used to. I was also really dehydrated from being at the sand dunes the day before.
It was a bummer, but I was determined to not let it hold me back after all the work I'd put into getting ready. I felt like I was going to black out a few times during the race. Not sure what that was all about, but, like I say, I was not feeling like myself. I pushed it, though, and came in 3rd over women and 14th overall. I received an award for placing (a gift card to Sports Systems).
