The Polar Express in Durango

We look forward to our Polar Express ride each December.  It really is SO magical.  I have to admit that I tear up every time I see the smoke billowing in the air, the music starts playing, and the big train pulls into the station.  I love seeing the look on my kids' faces when Santa gives them the first gift of Christmas (a beautiful silver bell).  It's an amazing experience.

We got to drink hot chocolate and eat cookies while the Polar Express took us to the North Pole.  The train stopped there for a short while while we look at all the lights and see Santa and his elves waving.  Then we sang Christmas carols together on the way back and then Santa got on the train and gave each child a bell.
Waiting for the Polar Express to arrive.

Here it comes! This is when my emotions get the better of me.  The train is the real deal too.

I love their expressions here.  They perfectly capture the magic of the experience.

Their special tickets that the man comes and punches.

Singing carols.  Jane went and sat between her brother and sister.

Sorry, it's really blurry because it was dark on the train, but Blake kept holding the bell up to his ear and ringing it to make sure he could hear it. :)

The hostesses invited Blake up to dance and play the blow-up trombone.  It made his night.

After we got off the train, we got to see Santa's reindeer.

Then we went through the train museum and then drove the rest of the way to Utah.

What a fun tradition! I want to do that with my kids. I really liked all of those pictures too.
