St. Patty's Day

I'm not Irish that I know of, but I sure do love to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Just another excuse for a good time, I guess.

I am the oldest girl in my family, and growing up, I used to send my sisters on a hunt for leprechauns. They were supposed to follow the trail of beans (don't ask me how I came up with that one) to where he would hopefully be hiding. We didn't ever catch one, but I sure had them on their toes.

Now I get to continue the fun with my kids, only not with beans :)

This morning Natalie woke up (bright and early at 6 am as usual) to little Leprechaun footprints all over the house and a shamrock with a note from Mr. Leprechaun, sending her on a treasure hunt. The hunt led her to the laundry room where she found a fun game that she doesn't have, Guess Who, and pretty much the only candy that she eats, Smarties.

Natalie and I made a leprechaun trap a few days ago and set it up today with a little candy trail leading up to it in hopes of catching one, but to no avail. I think she's learning that they are just too fast and tricky. Throughout the day, though, she keeps finding new footprints showing where the leprechaun has last been.

I told Natalie she could have green eggs or green pancakes for breakfast, but her face grimaced when I said it, so we didn't even try that one. It's hard enough to get her to eat normal colored food.

We made some yummy festive pistachio cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and of course wore our green so as not to get pinched.

Oh the fun we can have on St. Patty's day, and we don't even drink!

Mr. Leprechaun left his footprints all over in our house, that tricky little man

This little guy didn't know what the heck was going on, but he had fun all the same.

You are a cute fun mom. St. Patrick's Day in the East is a HUGE celebration. You would think it was Christmas or Easter.
