Natalie's Quiet Book

For a while, I have been wanting to make a quiet book for Natalie for church.  I finally got around to making one.  It was a fun project.  The various interactive pages are made of felt and will hopefully do their job in keeping her busy and quiet during church.

I had to hand sew everything, so it definitely doesn't look perfect, but at least it will stay together.

She loves to talk on the phone, so I thought this page would be perfect.  The phone is velcroed on so she can take it off and talk.  She also loves to draw, so I made a page where she can draw a picture, put it in an envelope, and then place it in the mailbox on the next page.

For this page, she gets to pick apples and put them in the basket.  The next page is to help her learn her shapes and colors.  I can pull all the shapes off and have her put them back on in the right place.

Natalie is obsessed with clocks for some reason, so I knew I needed to make a clock page where she could twist the hands.  For the next page, she can practice using a zipper.

This is a little piggy bank page.  Inside the pig are yellow coins that I can take out and have her stick in the slot.  The next page is still a little difficult for her, but she will learn it eventually.  She has to take the flowers from the pocket and button them on.

Here she can learn to tie a shoelace.

Holy cow Christine, this is such a cute idea, and way impressive! I'll have to pay you to make me one when I have a kid, saying that I have zero sewing/crafty abilities.

VERY cute! I love all your ideas for the different pages! I may just have to borrow some of your ideas. :-) I've also been meaning forever to make one of these quiet books for church.

So freakin' impressed, Christine! This is awesome! And hand-sewn to boot! I love it! (Oh, and I forgot to say how much I loved your new haircut.) We're pretty stoked about coming to see you guys next month! Natalie's gotten so big, it's crazy!

You are so creative! Did you use patterns or just freehand?

Kelly-I made patterns out of paper first for most of the pages and then transferred it to the felt.
