Belated Anniversary Trip to Colorado

Rob and I spent a wonderful week in beautiful Colorado without kids.  My sweet parents took care of them for us.  It was a much-needed break, and we enjoyed every minute of it.  We stayed at the cutest bed and breakfast for three nights in Glenwood Springs where we rafted for one day and went to the adventure park another day.  On our way to Buena Vista, our second location, we stopped in Aspen for a day and hiked the Maroon Bells mountains.  It was gorgeous there!

In Buena Vista we rafted for two days-the first day down mainly class 3's and the second down an exciting class 4 portion.

This is the barn loft at the first bed and breakfast.  We got there Sunday evening and were treated to a concert put on by a local country band here.  It was so cool.

This was the fun barn where the concert took place.  The owners also built a room that they rent out in here.
Cute kitchen at the bed and breakfast.  It was very homey feeling there.
There was a creek running through the property.  We loved to open our windows every night to let in the cool breeze and fall asleep to the sound of water rushing.
Enjoying an evening by the creek.
This was a little kayaking play park on the river that we rafted one day in Glenwood Springs.  The water was COLD!
Riding the tram on the way up to the adventure park.  It was located on the top of a mountain.
At the adventure park there were two caves that we toured.

We snapped this right before hiking the Maroon Bells.  Isn't it dreamy?  I was in love with all the greenery and the gorgeous lake behind us.
 We hiked it pretty quick.
 A beautiful view partway through.

Our hike took us to the beautiful Crater Lake where we had a picnic lunch, then hiked back and drove on to Buena Vista.

Just before starting our adventurous day on the class 4 rapids.  It was intense and SO fun!
Rob convinced me to go on this Cliffhanger ride with him twice at the adventure park.  Being the nice wife that I am, I agreed.  It was the scariest and craziest thing I've ever done.  He was even scared.  The ride swung us off the side of a cliff high in the air with only a lap belt.  I loved it, but it nearly gave me a heart attack.  I screamed so loud that the attendant asked if I was ok afterwards.

We had such a great time.  We missed the kids, but it was so nice to be alone together again and not have to worry about our normal responsibilities as parents for a while.

That seems like SUCH a fun vacation! You looked so cute in all your pictures, and I'm wondering how it's possible to look cute on a hike but there you were in your normal clothes and hair all done... That swing looked so scary. You are so brave!
