Natalie couldn't wait for St. Patrick's Day to come. I love how every year just gets more fun with kids as they become more aware of things and can participate more in holidays. She prepared a few days ahead by making her leprechaun trap, which I forgot to take a picture of, darn it. But she put a bed in there and a pillow for him and some food. She was very worried about his comfort. She made some steps leading up to the trap out of blocks.
She told me that she wanted to stay up all night watching for him, but I let her know that it was kind of like with Santa, that he probably wouldn't come if he saw her watching, so she gave in and went to bed. It was cute. She came running out of her room the next morning looking for signs that Mr. Leprechaun had been in our house. She immediately saw that he had left his footprints all over.
He also left a shamrock treasure hunt filled with fun clues and leading to a fun prize for the kids.
The first clue! I love her morning hair.
Blake didn't participate in the treasure hunt. He just wanted his breakfast.
The final clue!
So like a boy...only caring about stuffing his face when there's fun to be had :) Oh well. Blake loves his "Charms". He just eats the marshmallows, of course, but isn't that the best part? I figured I'd indulge him on St. Patrick's Day.
Discovering Mr. Leprechaun's treasure.
New outdoor pails and shovels. Notice candy can never be a prize for my children as they would never eat it. Whose kids are these anyway?
All throughout the day, Natalie searched high and low for the little guy. She found traces of him (i.e. his footprints), but that tricky guy slipped through our fingers yet another time! At the day's end, she asked when it would be St. Patrick's Day again and why the special days got over so fast. That's what I want to know! But now we have Easter to look forward to.
