Our Fourth of July Weekend

We had a great holiday weekend as a family. Friday I took Natalie to playgroup at the splash park nearby.

We just got a new hiking backpack, and we wanted to try it out, so we went on Saturday. The hike ended up being a lot longer than we had planned on for our first one (about 6 miles), but the scenery was beautiful and the kids were so good.

On the Fourth, we had some friends over for dinner and then did fireworks after dark.

Monday, we took the kids to the botanical gardens and the aquarium. Natalie loves the butterfly house.

I just feel so blessed to live in this country. I take it for granted too often. I have so much to be thankful for.

At the butterfly house. Natalie really wanted one to land on her. I even put her in a bright, flowery dress and sprayed perfume on her, but to no avail.

Fireworks on the Fourth. Natalie was scared at first, but she ended up loving it-especially the sparklers.

We hiked to some pretty little pools.

It was a nice getaway from our usual dryness to this greenery.
